Eco-Product Retail Finance

Prometheus is able to provide retail consumer finance for products that have good environmental credentials. We call this option “Eco-purchase” finance.

Retailers

Retailers of eco-products are welcome to contact us about this if they are interested in Prometheus providing a consumer finance option for their customers.  Such a finance option will be subject to the usual application and credit assessment process. If you are a retailer of an eco-product please feel free to contact Prometheus to discuss this further.

Consumers

Interested purchasers of eco-products can apply directly to Prometheus for a loan (via our standard personal loan application process) where an eco-product retailer does not have an existing consumer finance facility with Prometheus.

Eco-Purchase History

Prometheus has been involved since 1999 in providing retail eco-purchase loans for the purchase and installation of solar water heating systems.  This has generally, but not exclusively, been under the auspices of one of the EECA finance assistance programs for solar water heating (for further information see below).

Since early 2005 we have also been providing consumer finance for customers of The Clean Green Car Company which sells only hybrid petrol-electric vehicles such as the Toyota Prius and  Honda Civic Hybrid.

We have provided loans for a range of other eco-products for individual consumers, including solar electricity installations, micro-hydro, insulation retrofits, efficient wood-burners and water treatment systems.  We are actively interested in providing an on-going eco-purchase finance option for retailers of these and other types eco-products.

Low-interest Solar Water Heating loans

To apply for a loan from Prometheus to install a solar water heating (SWH) system under the Energy Efficency and Conservation Authority (EECA) finance assistance scheme you first need to choose which SWH system you want to have installed and by whom.

You can find information about the accredited suppliers and the installers they have in your region by going to the solarsmarter website and following the links.

The approved installer you choose will have the information and application forms you need to apply for a SWH loan from Prometheus  You are welcome to call Prometheus if you have any specific questions about the loan scheme but please note that we will not be able to give you detailed answers unless you have decided which system and installer you wish to use as the terms of the low-interest loans vary depending upon the cost of the system.
