When Te Ra Steiner School wanted to move to significantly larger premises in Raumati South on the Kapiti Coast they applied to Prometheus for a loan to help finance the development and relocation costs. These costs involved building three kindergartens, and moving several more classrooms on-site to join those that had already been built there.
We have provided development finance to a significant number of Steiner Schools over the years. Te Ra has been one of the fastest growing of these. The school first opened in late January 1996 with a roll of 20 children and after only five years of operation had already grown to three kindergartens, seven classes and a role of 160 children.
When the school could not get planning permission to accomodate a larger roll on its original Paekakariki site the staff and parents rose to the challenge. A new site was found was found slightly further north in Raumati South.
The school's Board of Trustees approached Prometheus for financial assistance with development and relocation costs. A hall and other additional spaces have been added since.
