When Te Ra Steiner School wanted to move to significantly larger premises in Raumati South on the Kapiti Coast they applied to Prometheus for a loan to help finance the development and relocation costs. These costs involved building three kindergartens, and moving several more classrooms on-site to join those that had already been built there.
We have provided development finance to a significant number of Steiner Schools over the years. Te Ra has been one of the fastest growing of these. The school first opened in late january 1996 with a roll of 20 children and after only five years of operation had already built to three kindergartens, seven classes and a role of 160 children.
When the school could not get planning permission to accomodate a larger roll on its original Paekakariki site the staff and parents rose to the challenge. A new site was found was found slightly further north in Raumati South and development work started there in 1999.
The school's Board of Trustees approached Prometheus for financial assistance with development and relocation costs. These involved building three kindergartens and moving several more classrooms on site to join those already built there..
A hall and othger additional spaces have since been added since the major development in 2001.
